McEnroe Puts Serena at About 700 on Men's Tour
by cofty injohn mcenroe was challenged by npr reporter lulu garcia-navarro to amend his comments about serena williams in his new book in which he rates her as the best women's player of all time.
lulu suggested he should not call her the best "women's" player but simply the best player of all time.
mcenroe was taken aback and explained that the men's and women's tours were very different and that serena would be around 700th on in the men's game.

Orphan crow,
Isn't interesting how the WT disparages higher education, well that is until they need to sound credible.
Amazing how those otherwise smart people can fall for the overlapping generation and other bullshit of the GB. Just amazing!

the loss of lives, the waste of resources provided by hospitals, government, courts and taxpayers. All of it just because people want to live inn the dark, in ignorance. JW's leaders are the ones who should get sued, not the good people who make every effort to save lives, but have to put with the GB bullshit.

Watchtower says: if your unbelieving relatives think you are in a cult, try to see things from their point of view
by cognisonance in12 have empathy for unbelieving relatives.
while we may be overjoyed about the bible truths we have learned, our relatives may mistakenly believe that we have been tricked or have become part of a cult.
we should show empathy by trying to see things from their viewpoint and by listening carefully to discern their real concerns.

It's the 1980's again. Back then, during and after the great purge, "apostates" (R. Franz and COJ) wrote books showing the lies and negative aspects of the JW's. Shortly after (around 1993), damage control gets into action by inoculating the JW's with the Proclaimers book, which "candidly" admits the criticisms in two words and treats them as if they were insignificant errors. This way the JW's could fend off the attacks by saying "I know, I know, the proclaimers book candidly informs us".
So now the apostates and the press are using the word cult when referring to JW's, then damage control decides it's inoculation time again. One caveat, the 1980's were a time when JW's could only find out about the real truth of their own religion through books. Fast forward to 2017 and you have an entirely different ball game. Now information through the internet is instantly accessible to even a two or three year old. No reading or typing skills needed, as long as he/she can say Spiderman into the cell phone, he/she will get Spiderman youtube videos.

More than 75% of the human genome may be 'junk' DNA.
by fulltimestudent inmaking little or no difference to our daily lives, comes the claim that most of our human genome is not functional.. dan graur an (evolutionary) biologist at the university of houston and other academics made the claim in a paper published in an online journal, genome biology and evolution.. the group's calculations suggest that not more than 25% of the human genome is functional - the rest is seen as 'junk' dna,.

Perry,
How can you be so blind or hypocritical? Every time you try to pose a challenge to evolution you are forced to use information that has been discovered and provided by scientist. If it weren't for scientists you and your ilk wouldn't know about the existence of DNA or molecules, or anything in an elementary science book, let alone in any higher level books. You may argue that some religious people have made contributions to science, but we owe their contributions to their observations of the physical world and their use of the scientific method, not to praying. Christianity and the Bible have contributed zero, nothing, zilch to any discovery or invention that we enjoy today. The level of cognizant dissonance are at incredible levels in your brain. It's extremely frustrating that millions today actually believe your dishonest and fallacious arguments.

Perry: "80 percent of the genome has a “biochemical function"
80%, 10 % or 100%, what difference does it make? It's a DNA that has been forming gradually for more than 3 billion years. Whether there's a creator or not behind this long process, the Bible can't offer a reliable account of anything, especially about the beginnings of human life.

Ray "Never a jw I'm taking physics too"
I took my last class 30 years ago, but I never stopped loving math and its favorite child, physics. For the last few years I have been relearning my math and physics to help my children. Unfortunately, for me, they both are off to college and their brains are running faster than mine.

Interesting story. We have different religious backgrounds, but we share the same birth place. I was born and raised some 400 km south of Juarez. We also share a love for education and learning. I have read all those "apostate" books that you have read.
Regarding psychology, it never interested me until I did some research in my wife's religion. What a discovery on how the human mind can believe so much BS!! Now I value psychology a lot more than I did when I was taking my math and physics classes. Psychology may not be 100% objective, but is quite useful in understanding cults

First Humans May Have Been European
by cofty inthe fossil record of early hominins in africa is very well established with patterns of later migrations into asia and europe.
the hypothesis is sometimes referred to as "out of africa".. however a new paper from researchers at the university of toronto describes two fossil specimens of an even earlier ancestor graecopithecus freybergi who lived 7.2 million years ago, putting it close to our common ancestor with chimpanzees.
crucially these fossils were not discovered in africa but in greece and bulgaria.. the team are proposing that environmental changes that led to the formation of the sahara pushed the ancestors of graecopithecus freybergi further north towards the eastern mediterranean where the chimp-human split occurred.. this hypothesis is likely to be controversial for all sorts of reasons!.

Hell no. I have faith that the first humans came from Chihuahua, Mexico. Then later some of them cross the Atlantic to Europe. Enough of this euro-centric view that poisons everything.
